Whoops! "Indiana Jones" star Shia LaBeouf let slip at an interview with the BBC for his new movie, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" that the people behind last year's huge "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" are indeed planning a follow-up.

Harrison Ford cracks the whip as movie icon Indiana Jones.

Blink and you would have missed it, but here is what LeBeouf actually said during the BBC interview: "Steven [Spielberg] just said that he cracked the story on it, and I think they're gearing it up."

And why wouldn't Spielberg, Lucas et. al? After all the last Indy movie - which was released to salivating fans 19 years after the previous one, "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" - made just under $800 million worldwide.

Even so,  some fans were disappointed by Indy's fourth outing and I wonder just how much appetite there is for another film - even from hardcore disciples of the franchise.

That said, the thought of sitting in a cinema hearing the theme tune trumpeting and seeing Indy's fedora silhouetted at the beginning of a new movie is an enticing one.

Does the prospect of Harrison Ford cracking the bullwhip for the fifth time make you salivate or wince?

Yes, bring it on. Just be a little more accurate about origins of peoples and languages. They goofed up royally mixing Mayas with Incas and languages.

Bring it on! But, please return to a solid script and leave out the cheesey-transparent and unrealistic action and/or storylines.

I'd be happy if they went back to the filming style of the first 3. Too much CGI in 4, ruined it for me.

It would be great to see another Indy movie – I am 38 and loved him as a kid growing up in the US. I later moved to Peru and it was quite disappointing how the movie portrayed Peru's ancient ruins and Mexico's as well. Simply calling the sloppiness "fiction and not a documentary" was simply not enough. We have "The Mummy" if we want that kind of movie.

A fifth Indiana Jones??? Salivate, of course!!!!!! and a sixth, and a seventh...!!!

Someone young should take his place now. 'Indiana's son' maybe. Doing a 5th indy with ford going around cracking whips around is pushing it too far.

The character is great as was the first and third movie, Unfortunately, the last movie was so bad, and the overuse of BAD CGI was such that I would seriously consider skipping the next movie.

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" deserves a sequel.
And If it doesn't I know I deserve. And so do all fans.

Of course they should make a 5th film, hopefully they will make 2 films back to back (as getting the core team together based on their schedules must be difficult).
“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” was not the strongest of the four, but remember, people complained after “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” (which I happen to like by the way) and then Spielberg, Lucas and Harrison knocked it out of the park with “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”. “Last Crusade” had what was missing from “Crystal Skull”, that the external environment and circumstances reflects the internal struggle of the character (Indy going through the “challenges” at the end to get to the Grail, especially the “Leap of Faith”).

Let's see any of us (me included) could run along the top of wooden boxes (with no safety wires) 25 feet of the ground at full speed when we are 65 years old (you can see this in the behind the scenes materials on the DVD)? My point is that Harrison still has the spirit of adventure in him and I look forward to their next collaboration, should we be lucky enough to get one.

For the love of God no!

I love the Indy films 1-3, but the last one was a disgrace. It's one of the worst films I have ever seen. It captured nothing of the magic of the first 3 and completely abandoned their meaningful themes of the power of religion and the its abuse by ruling elites. Crystal Skull was an abomination. Leave it be.

"No ticket!"

I cannot believe this is true!

NO! Just like the Star Wars Prequels which ruined the whole thing. I was 7 in 1977 when I saw the first SW and 11 when I saw Lost Ark, and had a sense of awe and wonderment. The new films are a parody, caricatures of the genuine thing. I fell asleep during the latest Indy in the theatre. Please dont come back Doctor Jones. You'll live forever in your first film.
